Synopsis
Book 5 of 5 in the Spiderwick Chronicles. Three ordinary kids, Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace, have entered another world -- without leaving this one! Bruised and battered, Jared, Simon, and Mallory return home to find the mansion ransacked and learn that Mulgarath has made off with both the Guide and their mother! With only the help of Thimbletack, Hogsqueal, and Byron, the Grace kids must defeat Mulgarath and his goblin army. But before they can face Mulgarath, they’ll have to rescue Arthur Spiderwick from Lorengorm and the elves.- Jared has been struggling to control his anger throughout the series. In this book he finally learns self-discipline and is able to save his family (p. 114). Discuss why it’s important to keep struggling against our vices even when it’s difficult, or even when we fail. This is how we build our character.
- In The Seeing Stone (Book 2), Simon selflessly risks his life to rescue a griffin. That same griffin returns in this book to help save Simon’s mother’s life. Discuss how no kindness or good deed done to please Allah ﷻ is ever wasted. Sometimes you will see a direct benefit in this life, and sometimes we must wait until the next life, but it will always have an effect on your heart.
